HAMMONDS PLAINS – A community leader and experienced volunteer is running in Hammonds Plains-Lucasville for the PC Party of Nova Scotia in the next provincial general election. Rick Burns recently secured the party’s nomination in the constituency.
“As someone who has been active in the community over the years, I have seen how important it is to have a voice in government to make good things happen,” said Burns. “Premier Tim Houston and his PC Team have done a lot to fix what previous Liberal and NDP governments have broken. It’s time for Hammonds Plains-Lucasville to be at the table where decisions are made, so that the needs of our growing constituency – from infrastructure to emergency preparedness – are addressed.”
Burns has 20 years of experience working in IT and project management, covering such sectors public safety, energy, retail pharmacy and web development. He has also given back to his community as president of the White Hills Residents Association, chair of the Greater Hammonds Plains-Lucasville Remembrance Day Committee, a member of the Tantallon Wildfire Life Safety Coalition, a member of the Cape Breton Charitable Association of Halifax and a coach for various Hammonds Plains As baseball teams. He holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from Dalhousie University and lives in the constituency with his wife and two children
“Rick Burns is passionate about driving change in his community. That’s exactly the kind of energy and focus that the people of Hammonds Plains-Lucasville deserve in an MLA,” said Premier Tim Houston. “I invite the people of Hammonds Plains-Lucasville to give Rick Burns the chance to deliver results for the constituency as a valued and trusted member of my team in government.”
Premier Tim Houston’s PC team has delivered record investments in health care, housing and infrastructure. The Houston PCs also provided tax relief, while at the same time fighting against the Liberal carbon tax.
